career change, taking one day at a time, and keeping the faith

for exactly three years and one month in this government agency, i can say that i have learned and experienced a lot about the mandates of the office and about public service. but sometimes, just out of the blue, my find-a-new-job leg would start itching again and i would think about diving under clear blue waters and swimming with the fishes and corals, instead of facing clients, doing paperworks or doing inspection of quarry, subdivision and other land development projects.

Im a marine biologist but with my current work, i have to learn the craft of engineers, foresters, environmental scientist...a jack of all trades, they say, but a master of none. Anyhow, im still thankful that im not included in the statistics of the unemployed.

recently, i went to Davao for a job interview for Malaysia. my hopes were up because of the prospect of being able to work outside the country. sadly, three days later, i received the result that i am on the second offer list -- meaning, second priority and the chance of getting hired is when the first priority refuses the job or failed to respond within the given time frame.

i was supposed to be discouraged because i did not get in the first priority, but i didnt feel anything like it. sure, i was a bit sad but something tells me to trust the Lord and His will. I was able to watch the episode of PBB in which Connie Reyes visited the housemates. and i heeded her advice to take one day at a time, trust God's will for He has plans for each of our life.

a week later, when i had already accepted the reality that the malaysia job wasn't meant for me, i received an email from the malaysian employer telling me that im upgraded to the first priority list, meaning i got the job!

im excited of this new opportunity but at times, i feel afraid of my future in that foreign land.its a risk and a gamble but with God by my side, i know everything will be okay.

Hey Jess, congrats! Wow! I'm happy for you. At least Malaysia is somewhere closer to the country. And it's a reality that we can't prosper and enjoy the life that we deserve if we'll get stuck in this place where chances of improving our lives is too thin.
